Impact Fee hike being considered as Orange County population grows

In 1993, the Orange County Board of County Commissioners established a system of impact fees that help subsidize some of the capital costs schools experience as our community grows and expands.  The fees are based on the school district in which the new home is located and are supposed to reflect the cost of adding new students to the existing schools when new housing construction occurs.  For every new housing unit constructed or installed in the county, the one-time “impact fee” is collected
